Attention seeker....

Spoke to Mom today. She had some major pain meds coursing through her system but nevertheless she tried really hard to focus and was light and chipper. Occasionally she slurred her words and would get frustrated with herself. Too much talking exhausts her but she is still so happy to hear our voices. We talked about her surgery and what her surgeon had said that day and I said to her "Really Mom, your such an attention seeker, your always after the limelight...the extents you go to just for a little attention, couldn't you have done something more basic like get your belly button pierced?" She laughed and laughed, it was music to my ears and she replied just as quick as a whip "yes honey, I do tend to go to extremes I really should have consulted with you before hand, a belly button piercing might have been the better choice."

  1. Thanks so much girls for posting this blog. I don't like to bother your Dad with questions, and the last time I called your mom I woke her up. She was very gracious about it but I know how precious that sleep is for her. She is a trooper for sure and the sisters here at church admire her greatly. She had even accepted a new calling the Sunday before she went into the hospital. She was so happy to be there with her little grandson.

  2. Judy & Terry Koch here. Sending you Blaine and all your children a big hug. I have a good idea of what you are going through, the ups and the downs and just wanting your loved sick one to be in as little pain as possible. Dad also had bowel blockages and we know the pain and discomfort it caused him. Thank God he was able to tolerate morphine. Dad also was the good patient kind and loving to the end and never lost his patience. He one time did say to MOM that he never thought this would be so hard. Some people have great strength. Fortunately we have bodies that provide us with surges of adrenalin to get us through these exhausting days and nights. Just remember all that truly matters is that you loved and were loved. Love you./ Judy
